Doctor Joseph Pace received his MD from the University of Malta, following which he took post-graduate training in the UK at Edinburgh, Stoke-on-Trent, and Manchester at the Manchester Skin Hospital. Following a tour as Chief of Dermatology at a hospital in Saudi Arabia, he returned to practice in Malta and established the Skin Department at Boffa Hospital.
He has organized many international meetings in Malta, including MaltaDerm and RheumaDerm, where he brought together rheumatologists and dermatologists. He has served as President of the World Medical Association, Founder of the Psoriasis Association of Malta, Secretary-Treasurer of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, and Vice-President of the International Academy of Cosmetic Dermatology (IACD). Among the many accolades he has received include giving the Samuel J. Zakon Lectureshp in the History of Dermatology and being Visiting Professor Dermatology and Cutaneous Biology at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.
Doctor Pace has written on ACE inhibitor inducted pemphigus, non-venereal syphilis, and cutaneous leishmaniasis. His additional editorial responsibilities have included serving on the editorial boards of the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and the Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology. Currently, he is a member of the Editorial Board of SKINmed.
