Antonio Ledo, MD, PhD

Professor Antonio Ledo received his MD degree from the University of Valladolid (Spain) with the Extraordinary Achievement Award and his PhD from the University Complutense of Madrid. He continued his dermatology studies with Dr. Arthur Rook in Cambridge, UK and pursued his interest in immunology with Dr. Robin Coombs, also in Cambridge. He has served as Head of Dermatology at the Ramon y Cajal Hospital in Madrid and Professor of Dermatology at the University of Alcalá, also in Madrid.

Professor Ledo is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and several other dermatology societies, including those in Columbia, Costa Rica, France, Peru, and Portugal. He is a Fellow of the Spanish Academy of Dermatology. In 1987, Professor Ledo served as President of the XI Congress of the Colegio Ibero Latinoamericano de Dermatología. He has contributed over 500 papers to Spanish journals and has 52 publications in international journals.

The Ledo Family has been a medical family for two centuries. The first member received his MD in 1825 and became a professor of surgery. His son was a professor of pediatrics. Since 1896, there have been four generations of dermatologists with the fifth qualifying in 2018.
