Yalçin Tüzün, MD is Professor of Dermatology and Venereology at Istanbul University, Cerrahpasa Medical Faculty in Turkey. He had completed a residency in dermatology at the same institution and has been practicing dermatology as a specialist in Istanbul since 1977. His work centers on psoriasis, acne, vitiligo, nail diseases, urticaria, and Behçet’s disease. A familial condition, presenting with follicular atrophoderma and scrotal tongue that was described by him in 1987, has been known as “Tüzün syndrome” since 1992.

He is a member of the Turkish Medicine Academy, European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, and International Academy of Cosmetic Dermatology (IACD). He is also a charter member of the Society of Cosmetology and Dermatology Academy in Istanbul, which was constituted in 2006. Since that year, he has also been Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of the Turkish Academy of Dermatology.

Professor Tüzün is the author of over 30 books and 300 scientific contributions with his publications being referenced more than 2000 times, according to the Science Citation Index (SCI). He has Guest Edited several issues of Clinics in Dermatology, including the series on regional dermatoses and “The Red Face Revisited.”
