Abstract
An island in Antarctica has been named in honor of the distinguished Bulgarian dermatologist
Nikolai Tsankov. This contribution tells the story of Tsankov Island, and the remarkable
man behind the eponym. He has has participated in multiple expeditions to Antarctica
as a pioneer in studying the effects its climactic conditions on healthy skin.
