Oftentimes, the information propagated from consumer marketing, word of mouth, online
media, and social media platforms outpaces our current scientific understanding and
available clinical evidence; therefore, it is important for physicians to discuss
their personal experiences and own opinions with each other in order to pass along
their early knowledge. Such avenues for discussion can include personal communications,
advisory board meetings, industry-sponsored educational sessions, and medical conferences.
This exchange of information is crucial to aid in our overarching mission to protect
patients, which is the cornerstone of the medical profession.
