Abstract
This article suggests ways dermatologists can help solve crimes by sharing knowledge
with detectives about abnormalities observed in forensic sketches of suspects.

Biography
Lois Gibson has been the forensic artist for all the law enforcement agencies in the Houston area of Texas for 28 years. She has authored the textbook Forensic Art Essentials (Elsevier, 2008) for those practicing or wishing to enter her profession. She is also a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation forensic artist course. Gibson teaches forensic art at Northwestern University Center for Public Safety in Evanston, Illinois. Her sketches have helped identify more than 1246 perpetrators, landing her in the Guinness Book of Records as the most successful forensic artist in the world. Gibson authored the true-crime book Faces of Evil (New Horizon Press, 2004) profiling some of her most compelling cases. Gibson has appeared in vast array of publications, such as Reader's Digest, People Magazine, the London Daily Telegraph and many more. She has appeared on such programs as ABC's 20/20, Dateline NBC, CBS Early Show, Forensic Files, First 48, and many more. Production is in the works for a TV series about her and her work.
